April 22, 2025, News 12, CT: 'At a crisis point'. Special education costs soar in Connecticut
Special education costs have reached a crisis point, according to a state senator.
“We are at a point where special education in the state of Connecticut is not sustainable,” said State Sen. Sujata Gadkar-Wilcox, D-Trumbull, calling for “better oversight.”
Lawmakers considered a bill Monday to send more state funds to local school districts.
They approved $40 million in emergency funds earlier this year. Gov. Ned Lamont proposed additional funding, but not until next year.
