Members of the Autism Community Together, or ACT, of Guam, a support group for the more than 500 children on Guam who live with autism spectrum disorders, and their families, will be joining the signing of a proclamation declaring April 2025 Autism Awareness Month.

Gov. Lou Leon Guerrero and Lt. Gov. Joshua Tenorio will sign the proclamation at a 4 p.m. ceremony on the front lawn of Adelup.

During the ceremony, children and families will help raise the autism awareness flags and leave them up throughout the month of April.

"This ceremony is always so emotional because we showcase what our kids can do, not the limitations that most people associate autism with. We continue to stand in solidarity with the more than 70 million individuals living with Autism around the world," ACT of Guam president Josephine Blas said in a statement. "Our children with Autism will once again showcase their abilities as they present the colors, sing the National Anthem and Guam Hymn as well as read the proclamation verses. It’s just a very heartfelt ceremony."

Besides being a support group for the more than 500 children on Guam who live with autism spectrum disorders, and their families, ACT said its mission is to promote a family, education and community partnership which is accepted and respected as beneficial for everyone – the child, the family and the schools – in order to ensure successful supported education and community awareness and participation."April is Autism Month, but we live it each and every day of the year," ACT's Blas reminds the community.
