Mar 3, 2025, Cork 96FM: Peaceful protest to highlight special education crisis planned for Cork
They want to shine a light on the critical shortage of suitable school places
A march has been planned for Cork city next weekend to draw urgent attention to the ongoing crisis in special education.
A group of parents of children without suitable SEN school placements will stage a peaceful protest from 2pm on Saturday starting at City Hall.
Organisers say that across Cork city and county, around 32 kids so far have no school place for September.
The aim of the demonstration is to shine a light on the critical shortage of suitable school places, to urge the Department of Education to implement immediate and effective measures to address the gaps in support and to demand transparency and accountability in the allocation of resources to special education.
